Webinar- Role of Rotary in Women Empowerment

Bhubaneswar(18/08, PPL NEWS) : Parichay Foundation in association with Rotary International and Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar Meadows District 3362 organised an International webinar on women empowerment.
The leading Rotarians from across the globe joined the webinar, voiced  their points of view about women empowerment and also talked about how Rotary International has been working from years towards empowering women.
Rtn Bijoylaxmi Kar, Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar, Meadows (District 3262) shared the work being done by Rotary Club at the grass root level and also brought the attention of the viewers on the dual responsibilities that a woman is forced to bear. She highlighted on the importance of providing equal opportunities to women and girls.
The next speaker Rtn Kalpana Udaykumar, Rotary Club of Bangalore (District – 3190) gave a powerful talk on the subject and spoke about how women are breaking the glass ceiling in Rotary clubs and reaching at the top leadership roles.
Rtn Omutunde Lawson, DGN RI District 9110, joined from Nigeria and highlighted that gender based discrimination is the most pervasive form of discrimination present all over the world she pointed out that women empowerment is not restricted to economic emancipation but includes the freedom to make life choices.
Rtn Kimberly Carroll, RI District 6930 joined from United States of America and believes that awareness through education is the first step to bring about a change. She also touched the very important point of the participation of men in this journey of women empowerment.
Rtn Shyamshree Sen, Past District Governer (District 3291) RC Calcutta Metro city shared her life experience of working at the grass root level for empowering women. She talked about the importance of self growth to build an egalitarian society.
The discussion was very insightful and all panelists highlighted the role of education, skilling, health and economic empowerment and believe that empowering women is empowering society.
Dr Rosalin Patasani Mishra, Founder President- Parichay Foundation proposed the vote of thanks. She believes that women can become change makers by joining hands with each other.
The session was moderated by Dhwani Jain, Parichay Head (Delhi Chapter) & Founder Karma, who believes that when women work as equal partners, it leads to the creation of an inclusive and progressive world.
